About:
May 8, 1898, Roger Sherman Chapter, NSDAR was the ninth chapter chartered in the State of Connecticut. This chapter serves the New Milford area and is one of over 40 chapters currently in the state. Our chapter's namesake is the only signer of all four fundamental documents of our government. He was a distinguished member of the Constitutional Convention in 1787 and was elected United States Senator for the State of Connecticut, from 1791-1793. The chapter is very proud to be named the Roger Sherman Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, in honor of his great service and dedication to our country. Our members carry on the dedication to serving our community through causes near and dear to our hearts. Our members work tirelessly with our youth, seniors, and local veterans groups. In 2021, over 5000 hours were volunteered by sewing masks and quilts, knitting shawls, working at vaccination clinics, food pantries, and volunteering at the local library.
Current membership includes women in New Milford, Connecticut, as well as additional members from fourteen states. The members are women a lot like you. We come from diverse backgrounds and have a variety of interests. Our common bond is our lineal descent from patriots of the American Revolution. Any woman, 18 years or older, regardless of race, religion or ethnic background, who can prove this lineage is eligible to join. We welcome membership inquiries and are more than happy to answer any questions about the Roger Sherman Chapter and the NSDAR.
