First Friday Hike @ Deer Pond Farm

Join us for the First Friday Hike at Deer Pond Farm this December! Enjoy a peaceful walk through the woods, led by our knowledgeable volunteers. This guided hike is a great way to learn about our trail network. Come experience the quiet beauty of the season, stretch your legs, and spend time in nature with others. All are welcome.

SOAR Experiences is excited to partner with The Connecticut Audubon Society – Deer Pond Farm nature preserve in Sherman, CT / Pawling, NY and STARR Adventures Dealership to offer guided adaptive hiking for persons with limited mobility in Action Trackchairs. On this guided adaptive hike, you will get to explore wide gravel trails traversing meadows and forested landscapes with diverse habitats. Naturalists from Deer Pond Farm and the SOAR team will be co-leading this hike. The track chairs move at a walking pace of 2 – 3 miles per hour, are quiet and are customized for each guest by the SOAR Experiences team. Bring a friend or family member to enjoy the Autum air on the trails with us!

SOAR Experiences is a not-for-profit organization offering experiences, education and charitable opportunities promoting outdoor recreation to guests with mobility impairments.

Limited equipment available
SOAR Experiences will set up and customize Trackchairs for each registered user. Registration is through SOAR Experiences via the REQUEST FORM below.

Gala Preview Party – Autumn Arts & Fine Crafts Show

Want to be the among the first to browse our amazing selection of artwork and fine crafts before we open to the public? Love live music and delicious food? Then you’ll want to join us for our Opening Preview Gala on Friday, October 10th from 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm. Enjoy live music from Mama Train, hors d’oeuvres, desserts, and drinks, all for only $35 at the door or $30 prepaid (Merwinsville Hotel Members pay $20). Many artists will be available to discuss their work. It’s a night you don’t want to miss!

Grab your friends and have fun with clay! This class is for all ages!
(7 and under can sit on parents lap)
This is your chance to try the pottery wheel and get your hands in some clay.
We show you how, then you get on the wheel right away. This class is perfect for all ages—little ones are welcome to sit on their parent’s lap and join the fun.$50 ea.
Each date is the start of a new class.
Pre-registration is required.
Needs a minimum of 4 people to run this class.

This is a two-day course where you will throw one piece of pottery on the wheel, & trim the base during the second visit. $245 per couple. This includes a visit to glaze your piece at your leisure once it’s out of the kiln.

In this three-week workshop, our instructor will guide you step-by-step through the steps to create this vibrant autumn scene featuring abstracted pumpkins and sunflowers—brought to life with expressive texture, rich color, and that unmistakable Van Gogh flair. Learn new painting techniques in each session as you create this lovely design. No experience needed—just a love of the season and a willingness to play with paint!

Hand-Building with Clay: Pinch Pot Pumpkin & Ghost Workshop.

Learn how to turn a ball of clay into a beautiful ceramic pumpkin to be cherished for years.

The price includes guided instruction, materials, and firings for one pumpkin and one small ghost.

Additional clay for more pieces can be purchased at the workshop.
