“What Is America to Me?”: The Holocaust and Family Stories of Immigration

The family was German Jewish Holocaust survivors. Before, during and after the war, their vision of America held out hope for a new life free from persecution. With the difficulties of emigration, some were able to leave Germany but many were caught in the web of Nazi restrictions. You’ll hear their stories based on their personal correspondence.

Jeanette Brod is a certified Holocaust educator. She shares her family stories for Voices of Hope, an organization of descendants of survivors, and Legacy of Light, a group of daughters of survivors. Jeanette works in the children’s department of the New Milford Public Library.
