A Musical Evolution – BACH & SONS – Baroque to Classical

Join us for an all-Bach concert featuring music by Johann Sebastian Bach and his two sons, Johann Christian Bach and Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach. Program spans the evolution of music from the Baroque period to the birth of the Classical era. Featuring Evan Shinners on keyboard; Eliot Bailen, cello; Susan Rotholz, flute; Jane Chung, Michael Roth and Doori Na, violin; and Sarah Adams, viola.

The Bach family musical dynasty dominated German music for seven generations. The most famous, Johann Sebastian, a baroque-era composer, has been revered through the ages for his work’s musical complexities and stylistic innovations. He is regarded as one of the finest exponents of Baroque music.
His sons followed in his musical traditon and innvovated and developed new forms of music

The performance features Evan Shinners, a Yamaha Artist, graduate of the Juilliard School. Since 2010, he has devoted himself almost exclusively to the study and performance of the works of J.S. Bach. He has received widespread acclaim for his innovative and daring artistry. He has toured the world professionally delighting audiences with his stories, humor, original music, and Bach-playing. He has revolutionized the way audiences experience the music of Bach, through concerts in unlikely venues like empty storefronts, and spontaneous pop-ups where superb artists surprise and delight with joyful performances.
