His Truth Is Marching On is a short documentary that traces the history of American music from 1619 to hip-hop through the Civil War song “John Brown’s Body,” written about a kid from Connecticut who changed the world.
The film features more than 50 musicians from Northwest Connecticut and screened at Black History Film Festivals in Washington, DC, and Atlanta, GA, as well as the Ridgefield Independent Film Festival, earning a Leadership in History Award from the American Association of State and Local History and an Award of Merit from the Connecticut League of History Organizations.
The film’s producer will introduce the project and answer questions about how the film came together, why it matters, and what’s next.
