DESCRIPTION:Felicia Ortner\, a Connecticut Master Wildlife Conservationist (MWC) and a bear enthusiast\, will provide education and facts about bears and help dispel myths and common misunderstandings. Accumulated data supports the black bear is seldom aggressive toward humans. Felicia has been studying about bears for over 30 years. In the mid 1990’s she turned her passion for learning about bears into a passion for teaching about them. She created an education program called The Bear Reality. Since then\, Felicia has provided presentations reaching over 8000 people at programs in CT\, NY\, MA\, NH and\, VT. \nFelicia believes outreach and education is key in having a better understanding about the life and behavior of bears. Hopefully this will lead to a higher tolerance which is instrumental in creating a strategy of coexistence between humans and bears.

On December 14\, 2024 wreaths will be purchased and placed on the grave sights of our fallen heroes. \nYour support will help create a warm and welcoming environment where veterans can enjoy a delicious meal in the company of fellow service members and community members. Lori Lichtenauer\, Sanctuary Manger / Naturalist and CT state certified forester will lead this guided walk to review the importance of evergreens as shelter and food for many animals. She will also review what to look for and avoid when shopping for your holiday tree at a local farm\, nursery\, or tree stand.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for the 58th lighting of the trees on New Milford’s Village Green Nov. 30 at 5:30 p.m.\nThe event will coincide with Small Business Saturday\, a day that encourages people to shop at small businesses.\nHighlights will include the lighting of the Christmas trees on the Green and visits with Santa.\nThe tradition of the trees on the Green was started by Walter Schutte in 1967 and the practice continues in his memory.\nOver the years\, many people have come from near and far to view the trees.\nMembers of the New Milford United Methodist Men’s Club and other church members donate their time and effort to place the trees on the Green\, string the wires and the lights\, and take them down shortly after New Year’s.
