DESCRIPTION:The music group earlybird began as a few friends meeting around the table each week for the pleasure of singing all kinds of vocal music\, particularly that of the Renaissance. They have performed at churches and small venues throughout Connecticut. A favorite location is the old train tunnel at Steep Rock preserve in Washington. Members are Jim Barrett (Winsted) bass and recorder; Laura Evans (Roxbury) alto; Sarah Fay (New Milford) soprano and recorder\, and Erica Warnock (Bantam) on viola da gamba and recorder. Please join them for festive Christmas concert with music both old and new.

SUMMARY:"A Christmas Carol" Reading by Bill Hughes
DESCRIPTION:A Christmas Carol published in 1843\, was the sixth of Charles Dicken’s twenty major works. His final work Edwin Drood was left half finished when Dickens died in 1870. \nCharles Dickens gave his first public reading of A Christmas Carol on Dec. 3\, 1867 at the Tremont Temple in Boston. On Christmas Eve\, 1867 in Boston\, a businessman named Fairbanks watched Charles Dickens read A Christmas Carol. The reading moved him so much he closed his factory on Christmas Day and sent every worker a turkey thereafter. \nBill Hughes’s reading is gently abridged for dramatic purpose from the restructured version Dickens created for his own United States reading tour of 1867/1868\, which included stops in New Haven and Hartford in 1868 with readings of A Christmas Carol.

SUMMARY:River Run 5K to benefit the Ostomy Foundation
DESCRIPTION:The third annual New Milford River Run 5K & Kids’ Superhero Sprint will be held Sept. 30 at New Milford RiverFest.\nThe 5K will take participants at 4:30 p.m. along a USATF-certified course (CT18028JHP) following the Housatonic River on Young’s Field Road to Boardman Road and back. The course has minimal turns and little elevation change. Walkers are welcome\, too. Medals and prizes will be presented on stage at 5:45 p.m. After\, grab a bite to eat\, listen to live music and enjoy other offerings.\n \nThe Kids’ Superhero Sprint will kick off at 4 p.m. and take children 10 and under on a short course that will wind them around part of Young’s Field and to the 5K finish line. Medals and prizes will be awarded in several categories and treat bags will be presented. The cost is $5/child.\niRunCT will provide timing.\nThe Ostomy Foundation is the organizer of the event\n
