SUMMARY:America's First Cookbook and Purchase of New Milford's Cookbook
DESCRIPTION:America’s First Cookbook was called American Cookery and by a young country author who created a culinary upheaval. Self-published in 1796 but backed by prominent Federalist politicians\, American Cookery is considered a culinary milestone in American history. It was penned by the enigmatic American orphan Amelia Simmons. The groundbreaking 13-edition cookbook has an enduring legacy that has shaped the course of American cuisine over the centuries. \nStep back in time with us to explore the rich tapestry of the nation’s cookbook\, written by an American with American recipes. It showcases instructions from early American cuisine\, a melting pot of European traditions\, Native American ingredients\, and innovative cooking techniques. American Cookery isn’t just a cookbook; it’s a culinary time capsule that innovatively showcases practicality and creativity in the kitchen. John Cilio’s presentation highlights American Cookery in detail\, the evolution of cookbooks in early America\, the impact of cast iron stoves\, and the development of cooking schools.
