DESCRIPTION:Join us on Saturday July 27th at 7:30pm for Chicks & Friends : Nancy Setzler\, Maggie Meriwether & Susanna Marker\, with special guests Al Burgasser & more! \nNancy Setzler has been a singer/songwriter and musician for many years\, first developing her love for music while performing with her church folk group and then transitioning to acoustic folk and classic rock bands. Currently she plays in Tuned In\, Wandering Women\, and Chicks on Fire\, which feature a combination of unique harmonies on popular covers as well as fresh original songs. She is working on new original music\, as well as collaborating with other musicians and songwriters. \nMaggie Meriwether has been singing for years with a variety of different musicians. She is most recently in the acoustic duo\, The Wandering Women\, who specialize in harmonies and acoustic versions of well-known songs. She is also working on her acoustic guitar skills and hopes to incorporate more guitar playing during performances in the future. \nAl Burgasser has a long history as a respected singer/songwriter and a member of multiple performing groups in the region. He is also active in participating in regional events including hosting Open Mic nights\, the Sherman Song Swap\, teaching songwriting\, and performing for civic events. \nThis just in… Susanna is joining the lineup! Susanna Marker: is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. She has been part of several local bands including Lumos\, Red Dirt Road and The Red Dirt Girls\, and has also performed as a solo artist. \n*KerriAnne Byrnes (original Chicks on Fire musician) is unable to make it to this performance. SUMMARY:The Girls From Away - Nancy Walsh & Caroline Bennett with Charlie Stokes
DESCRIPTION:  \n. \nThe Girls from Away : featuring Nancy Walsh and Caroline Bennett\, with special guest Charlie Stokes \nNancy Walsh grew up on the east end of Long Island near the water. She began playing guitar and singing in church at the age of 13. It was the music of John Denver that inspired her to branch out from Christian worship songs. Nancy now resides in Sherman\, CT and performs the music of John Denver\, Nanci Griffith\, Kate Wolf\, and other folk singers. She has also written several songs about family and the New England coast. Nancy performs weekly at the JCC open mic and has played at local events/venues like the Bridgewater Fair\, Merryall Center\, and the Painted Lemon. She was also involved in co-hosting the Sherman Song Swap for many years. \nCaroline Bennett has received awards and recognition for her Gaelic singing\, songwriting and poetry\, in local Mòd competitions as well as the Royal National Mòd in Scotland. Her original songs are currently being featured on a new BBC program series\, hosted by Gillebride MacMillan\, highlighting current generation singer-songwriters who are writing new songs in Gaelic\, Caroline has a very special ability to create songs and poems in the bardic tradition of Scotland and is passionate about bringing to life\, voices of the past as well as bringing new music to the Gaelic culture. \nCharlie Stokes got his first guitar when he was 14. A year later he was in his first folk-singing group. In college he recorded a record and toured across the country with ‘The Folk Sound’ performing his first John Denver Songs\, ‘Jet Plane’ and ‘For Baby\, For Bobbie.’ A life-long John Denver fan\, Charlie now sings with Pat Walker in their group\, Cover to Cover
