As you can see, our fair is aptly named as it certainly does “take a village” to bring it all together. We thank everyone in our village.
In addition to it taking a village to bring the fair together, it also takes money. On average, it costs us around $40,000 to put on Village Fair Days. Some years cost a little bit more and some years cost a little bit less. Some of the more substantial costs include the tent rentals including the large entertainment, bingo, and dining tents, entertainment, port-a potties, electricians, police (overnight security), t-shirts for our volunteers, and yearly rental of our two storage facilities. There is no cost for fair-goers to attend so the only income we have is from vendor fees and t-shirt sponsors.
Village Fair Days is a fundraiser for the Chamber. The Greater New Milford Chamber of Commerce (GNMCC) is a nonprofit organization under 501(c) (6) of the Internal Revenue Code and is incorporated under the laws of the State of Connecticut. The mission of the GNMCC is to encourage, promote and aid in the development of the commercial, industrial and general business interests of the community, and to promote the civic interests and general welfare of the greater New Milford area (New Milford and its trade area,) while embracing a non-political position on all issues.
We invite vendors who participated the previous year back first. It is up to each vendor to decide if they wish to come back or not. Once we know how many spaces we have available, we go to our Waiting List. We operate on a first come/first served basis with our Waiting List, but because this is a Chamber event, Chamber members in good standing are given priority over non-Chamber members. If a vendor is interested, they may become a Chamber member and take advantage of our Chamber member discount.
The money we raise from the fair helps us offset costs associated with the community events that the Chamber runs each year as well as allows us to donate $5,000 in scholarships each year to local graduating seniors.
We have really tried to hold the line with booth fees over the years. Although our expenses go up every year, we have not raised the booth rates since 2013. Vendor Fees from 2009 through 2017 are listed below. As you can see, we were able to lower the fees for two years (2011 and 2012 for the Chamber Member tented and non-tented spaces) when we could.
Not only on behalf of the Greater New Milford Chamber of Commerce and Village Fair Days Committee, but I too would like to say thank you. Thank you for your support and thank you for being part of our community and village.

Wishing New Milford Well: Bob Hanna, Chair of the Fair, has come up with an exciting way for us to celebrate the Fair’s 50th anniversary with a give-back to the community. We are offering all non-profit organizations that are Chamber members in good standing an opportunity to participate in our bandstand replica wishing well fundraiser – Wishing New Milford Well. The bandstand replica is being built by a local resident and will be located in the Food Court area at Village Fair Days. The wishing well will have slots that correspond with non-profit organizations. Fairgoers will have the opportunity to donate to whichever organizations are near and dear to their heart. Come out and help our local non-profit organizations by Wishing New Milford Well.
Contest – Five Gets You Fifty PLUS: We will have a locked box that has a five number digital combination. At no cost, eligible persons will be able to input a 5 digit code. If their code unlocks the combination, they will win the prizes inside. We will also offer a second chance to win. If no one guesses the correct combination, we will hold a “second chance to win” drawing. The contest will run from noon to 7 pm with the second chance drawing being held Saturday at 8 pm.
