A picture - perfect, quaint little town, set along the bank of the Housatonic River, has garnered quite a reputation for itself as a “Mecca for the Arts.” It has become a haven to artists, artisans, and galleries alike.
Despite persistent development pressures, Kent has retained its historic identity and well-defined character. Home to several points of interest such as historic Bull’s Bridge, one of only two covered bridges left in the state, this scenic, rural town has much to offer its diverse visitors. Other noteworthy sites of interest to visit include Flanders Historic District, The Seven Hearths and Kent Furnace and Sloane-Stanley Museum, Swift House, and Schaghticoke Indian Reservation one of five reservations in the state, and the only one in the Greater New Milford region.
With a blend of traditional style homes and distinctive architecture against a setting of natural beauty - the town of Kent serves as a magnetic attraction to residents, visitors, and tourists from afar. Many come to view the 200-foot cascading waterfall in nearby 275-acre Kent Falls State Park, one of Connecticut’s most scenic parks.
The town government is provided for by a Board of Selectmen and regular town meetings.
Education is well served by The Kent Center School for children at the elementary and middle school levels (K-B) while secondary school students (Grades 9-12) attend The Housatonic Valley Regional High School in Falls Village, both are public schools. The town is well known for several prestigious private schools - Kert School (Grades 9-12), Marvelwood Preparatory School (Grades 9-12) and South Kent School (Grades 9-12; boys)
